Katherine Foster is the Executive Director of the Green Digital Finance Alliance (GDFA). A former diplomat specializing in climate and human security, she has been spearheading multi-stakeholder innovation at the nexus of technology, policy, finance, and sustainable development for 30 years. With degrees in natural resource management and geography including specializations in gender inclusion and indigenous knowledge in decision making, Katherine has held leadership roles with Climate-KIC (Europe’s flagship climate innovation partnership and accelerator) and the GDFA including as including as Sherpa to the United Nation’s Secretary General’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the SDGs. She has held advisory roles with the World Bank, the United Nations, the Bank of International Settlement, the European Securities Market Authority, FIDES Microfinance, the EIT Food (Europe’s leading food innovation initiative) and several Startups focused on open innovation. In these roles, she has led the development of research, trainings and integrative tools for nested climate accounting, resource traceability and circularity, biodiversity valuation including papers green digital financing and on opportunities and challenges of integrative emerging technology in scaling natural capital valuation. Katherine is Swiss-Canadian and currently based in Switzerland.
