About
We are a global collaboration building a resilient economy that works for nature, people, and society, with the ambition that by 2035, the value of all capitals – natural, social, human, and produced – will be embedded into decision-making.
We have introduced internationally accepted frameworks, tools and resources and have created a supportive enabling environment to help define and measure progress – creating the preconditions to make invisible value visible and help actors and institutions implement this shift.
Our vision, mission and ambition
Our vision
A resilient economy that values what matters, people and nature.
Our mission
Help to embed the value of all capitals into decision-making and economic systems.
Our ambition
By 2035, the value of natural, social, human, and produced capitals is embedded in decision-making.
We're working toward a world where valuing impact isn't a niche practice. It's the condition for resilient economic growth.
What we do
We unite a global network of 500+ leading organizations to scale impact valuation from a “nice-to-have” to a global requirement to make the invisible value visible for economic decision-makers.
Building on more than a decade of collaboration, we work with the institutions that shape how decisions are made. We connect actors across the entire system, from businesses and financial institutions to governments and standard setters to create a stronger, healthier and resilient economy where organizations are judged not only on the profit they generate today, but on the full value they create, sustain and depend upon.
The economic system is not static – it is continually evolving. We work with accountants and regulators to update the governance processes that regulate all businesses and financial institutions, building confidence and trust in the use of impact valuation as an operating system across financial markets and management decisions. We bridge the skills and knowledge gaps, empowering people to act using the new information that is available to them through the capitals. And by doing this, we set the foundations to embed the value of all capitals into decisions by the major institutions in the economic system and thereby create a resilient economy that values what matters most.
When the major institutions in the economic system have embedded a consistent understanding of value, moving from one capital to all capitals being considered in products, tools, services, and standard operating systems, the Capitals Coalition will no longer be needed and will sunset.
