Doug MacNair, Ph.D. is a Technical Director at Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and is seconded to the Coalition. He has 30 years of experience in the field of economics and decision sciences. Dr. MacNair specializes in non-market valuation, benefit-cost analysis, and in developing decision support tools for helping companies include environmental, financial, and social issues in strategic decision-making. The topics have included climate change, water management, air quality, outdoor recreation, open space and managed landscapes, capital expenditures, health and safety risks, and environmental liabilities. Dr. MacNair also has extensive experience in survey design and analysis and in facilitating workshops/focus groups for public stakeholders and agency and corporate staff.
He is an adjunct professor at North Carolina State University. His research has been published in Land Economics, Marine Resource Economics, and Forest Economics. Prior to focusing on environmental economics, Dr. MacNair worked for 10 years in the securities industry. He was Associate Director of Economic Research for NASDAQ, the over-the-counter stock market.
