In Practice
We bring organizations together to solve shared challenges in four ways: through our projects and outputs, by coordinating action across our global network, through clear and consistent communications, and via our strategic partnerships.
We provide the space, tools and network for different actors in the system to exchange best practices and collaborate, build solutions jointly, and advance impact valuation in a pre-competitive space.
Projects
We host an open, pre-competitive space where organizations collaborate, share best practices, tackle collective challenges, and co-design solutions to advance towards a resilient economy.
Food System Transformation
Transformation in the agrifood sector has the potential to deliver systemic benefits for nature, people and businesses. The TEEBAgriFood for Business project developed guidance to enable the sector to adopt a capitals approach to build resilience, mainstream best practice, protect biodiversity and contribute to a more sustainable food system.
Nature on the Balance Sheet Initiative
There is a need for a fundamental shift in our economic system, one that integrates nature into economic and financial decisions. Nature is a critical asset for future growth, for businesses, economies, and societies at large: this recognition will drive economic stability, manage physical and transition risks, and create a new nature-based model of inclusive development.
A-Track
A-Track brings together leading thought leaders and practitioners who have been driving change in the measurement and valuation of natural capital and biodiversity in business, finance and government. Partners have led the development or implementation of guidelines and standards for measurement of nature impacts and dependencies for improved decision-making, including: biodiversity footprinting, natural capital assessment and accounting, and business models and finance that contribute to nature positive outcomes.
SUSTAIN – Strengthening Understanding and Strategies of Business to Assess and Integrate Nature
All businesses depend on healthy, biodiverse, and functioning ecosystems, either through their direct operations and through their supply chains. Actors across society must work towards enabling transformative change to shift away from negative practices and move towards a system that is nature-positive. The SUSTAIN project worked with businesses, financial institutions and regulatory bodies to help them understand how their impacts and dependencies on nature affect their operations and profits, through capacity building and the provision of tools and technical skills needed to comprehensively integrate the value of nature into their decision-making.
Forestry Natural Capital Project
The forestry sector leads positive change. This is why a pioneering global initiative, the Forestry Natural Capital Project, has been launched to establish a unified framework for Natural Capital Accounting and Reporting across the sustainable forestry sector.
SELINA – Science for Evidence-based and Sustainable Decisions about Natural Capital
SELINA is a 5-year EU funded project that aims to deliver guidance for evidence-based decision-making that supports the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of the environment.
